IOC, 2018평창동계올림픽 추가 경기(Event) 발표

IOC가 2015년 6월 8일 스위스 로잔에서 열린 집행위원회(Executive Board Meeting)에서 2018평창동계올림픽 경기 프로그램(event programme)을 확정함.
2018평창동계올림픽에 추가된 경기(event)는 다음과 같음.
IOC는 2018평창동계올림픽 프로그램의 변화가 IF(International Federation)들의 요청 하에 이루어졌으며, IF 및 조직위원회가 검토 과정에 참여하여 피드백을 제공하였다고 언급함. 검토 기준은 다음과 같음.
한편, IOC는 Olympic Agenda 2020 권고안 'Move from a sport-based to an event-based programme'을 통해 올림픽 프로그램의 구성을 기존 Sport - Discipline - Event 에서 Sport - Event로 단순화하면서, 각 대회 조직위원회가 1개 또는 그 이상의 추가 경기(Event)를 제안하는 것을 허용한 바 있음.
IOC는 보도자료를 통해 2018평창동계올림픽 경기 프로그램 검토에 대한 IF들의 요청이 Olympic Agenda 2020의 승인 이전에 있었기 때문에, 이번 경기 프로그램의 변화는 Olympic Agenda 2020의 완전한 적용(full implementation)이라기 보다는 과도기(transition)로 봐야 한다고 주장함.
이날 집행위원회에서는 추가로 2020도쿄올림픽 프로그램 평가 기준(Olympic programme evaluation criteria) 또한 승인됨. IOC 스포츠 부서(Sports Department)의 분석을 통해 확정된 총 35개의 기준(criteria)은 조직위원회가 추가 경기를 제안하는데 안내서로 사용되며, 다섯 분야의 주요 주제(theme)로 나뉘어짐. 주제 별 평가 기준은 다음과 같음.

4. Quota of athletes and officials

15. Number of National Federations per continent that medaled in the last World Championship
16. Percentage of National Federations that organise National Championships
17. Other disciplines managed by the IF that are not part of the Olympic proposal
18. Gender equality in the Executive Board (or highest decision making body) of the International Federation
19. Finance (share of income generated by marketing/broadcasting, share of expenditures allocated to development)
20. Anti-doping (compliance with WADA code)
21. Court of Arbitration for Sport (compliance with CAS)
22. Competition manipulation (rules in place to fight against competition fixing)
23. Code of Ethics (availability and compliance)
24. Athletes' Commission (existence of an Athletes' Commission and representation in decision making body)

2020도쿄올림픽 추가 경기에 관한 최종 결정은 2016년 8월에 브라질 리우에서 개최되는 제129차 IOC 총회에서 이루어질 예정임.
